Final Band Name

This is the survey we gave to people to decide on our final band name and the majority of people voted for Roads to Rome, so that is our new band name! This name draws inspiration form other indie bands such as Arrows to Athens.

Worries about comedy

We are concerned that, because our video has changed dramatically from our original pitch, that it will no longer be widely liked by our target audience. This is especially worrying because it has changed to a comedic tone and comedy is very specific to the individual, so we are going to hold a second focus group to make sure that it is the best route for us to take and that it isn't only us that find the humour funny.

Our Storyboard

This is our storyboard, set to our song so that we have a rough idea of what the video should look like, and where shots line up with lyrics and the bridge of the music.

Responding to audience feedback

This is the some of the feedback we received from the pitch:

How is the video feminist?
Feminism was one angle we were thinking of exploring, but the reaction from the audience has convinced us to explore a different angle.

Are you following the lyrics at all? Is there any lipsyncing?

Lip-syncing doesn't fit our music video, but the main themes of the lyrics are explored in our video

How many locations would you use?

Not many, because our narrative is on bikes, so the characters would not be able to travel far, and also  time is limited

How would you film cycling?

Alisha has a go pro that we are planning on using for POV shots, and also we can use still shots as the bikes go past (or towards, and away from) the cameraYou could film on the ridgeway or in museums?
Museums need permission to film in, so we were planning on using more accessable places.

Costumes

We want each of the actors to be instantly recognisable, even in long shots, so we decided to dress them in bright colours and give each of them a signature colour (A red jumper, an orange coat and a yellow coat) so they are recognisable to the audience. The bright colours of the costumes also fit with the upbeat and fun tone of our video. The man has a long coat and an odd hat to make him instantly recognisable to the audience when he only appears in the background of the shots.

Change of Tone

While we were storyboarding we found that our ideas for our video were shifting more towards a comedic, brightly coloured indie video. The map has become comedically simple and the tone is lighter, and more geared towards friendship. It is moving further away from the unique selling point of diverse ethnicity and more towards the ups of youth and friendship, drawing on the lines 'different colours' less and on the lines 'We know the kids are right' and 'we carry each other' more.
